Only 1600 cases were made of this liquid gold in honour of the 40th anniversary of Rush’s eighth studio album, Moving Pictures.
Impression: There is a tension in this beer between acidity and richness. It is fresh and surprising. Too easy to drink for 14%. The yeast is not overtly spicy or overpowering, rather distinguished and proud. This beer should be drunk right now to see it express its excitement, and in 1-2 years (if you can resist the temptation that long) to experience it once it has rested and coalesced into what will surely be something undeniably spectacular.
Palate: Fresh attack, mid palate suggestively sweet, dry finish. Tannic bitterness in tension with Riesling acidity. Underlying sweetness evokes cherry compote. Sourdough, and kefir stays present on the palate in the finish.
Colour: Deep amber-red with a thin heavy-cream-coloured head
Primary aromas: Primary aromas of tart strawberries, and ripe nectarine. Honeysuckle, and dried apricots.
Secondary aromas: Sponge toffee, green coffee, slate/flint, fresh-baked sourdough & kefir/yogurt.
